What are the rooms like?
At Lincoln College, your private, single-occupancy room is your personal sanctuary, designed for comfort and convenience. With a king single bed (or a spacious Queen-sized bed in some senior rooms), a wardrobe, desk, chair, bookcase, and a small refrigerator, your room has everything you need for study, relaxation, and fun. The best part is you get to make it your own! Personalise your space with your own bedding, pillows, and anything that makes it feel like home. It is the perfect place to unwind, study, and create memories that are uniquely yours.
What type of room will I be allocated? Can I choose my room?
At Lincoln College, room assignments are carefully made to ensure a balanced and welcoming community. As a first-year student, you will typically be allocated a king single room in one of our Hambly, Scott or Keith Murray Buildings. As you continue your studies and engage with college life, you will earn priority for selecting your room the following year through our points-based system, which rewards your active participation in the college community and reflects your academic success.

Is there a curfew for students at Lincoln College?
At Lincoln College, we believe in fostering a balance between independence and respect for others. For most students, there is no curfew – you have freedom to manage your time independently. However, during SWOTvac and exam periods, noise curfews are implemented to create a focused and quiet environment for study. Outside of these periods, we maintain reasonable noise restrictions to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for both sleep and study.
Students can enjoy the flexibility of staying out late, as long as they return quietly and respectfully, mindful of their fellow residents. For students under 18, a midnight curfew is in place for safety, with nightly attendance checks conducted by the Duty Residential Advisor (RA).
Who is there to help me if I need it?
At Lincoln College, we are dedicated to providing you with the support you need – whether academic, personal or administrative. You can always turn to the following resources for assistance:
- Residential Advisors
- Senior college students
- Your corridor community
- Academic tutors
- Our Deans and Head of College, all of whom live on-site.
- College staff
We are committed to ensuring you feel supported, safe and valued throughout your time at college. Your well-being is our priority, and we are here to help you succeed every step of the way.
Who are the Residential Advisors?
At Lincoln College, our Residential Advisors (RAs) are here to make your college experience even more enjoyable and supportive! Each corridor has its own RA who is not just a friendly face but also your go-to person for adjusting to life at Lincoln. They are responsible for:
- Keeping everyone safe and supported
- Helping you stay organised and on track
- Bringing the community together with leadership
RAs are experts in time management, study tips, and making sure you know where to find academic help. They are also trained in First Aid and Fire Safety. Each term, they host “Corridor Functions” – fun events where you can connect and make new friends within your corridor.
What is the College Club?
The College Club is a student-run organisation where every student is automatically a member! Run by elected students, the Club is the heart of fun at Lincoln, offering a variety of sports, social events and activities throughout the year. It not only promotes fun but also ensures students’ voices are heard and their interests represented.
As the heartbeat of the collegiate experience, the College Club, together with the Residential Advisors, organises a wide range of inclusive events that keep students feeling connected and supported all year round. Whether it is a themed party, a sports competition, or a casual get-together, there is always something exciting happening at Lincoln.
Can I bring my car?
On-site parking at Lincoln College is limited and primarily allocated to senior students or those with specific needs. The local council also offers a few street parking permits for students. Free all-day street parking is available nearby, though restrictions may apply during events at Adelaide Oval. Given the College’s central location, many students find having a car unnecessary, as amenities, entertainment and the university are all within walking distance. Parking requests can be made when submitting your application. The fee for on-site parking is available here.
How can I get to uni from Lincoln?
Lincoln College is ideally located, just a 10 to 15-minute walk from the City Centre. Adelaide University is 15 minutes away, Flinders University Adelaide campus is about 20 minutes, and the University of South Australia is a 25-minute walk.
Students have easy access to each university via the city’s free tram services. Most Adelaide Metro bus routes operate within the city, with regular services to Flinders University’s Bedford Park campus about 30 minutes from the college. Adelaide Railway Station, a 20-minute walk away, provides additional public transport options, including the Flinders Loop bus for convenient campus travel.
What happens during uni holidays?
At Lincoln College, you are welcome to stay for the entire academic year. During mid-term and mid-year breaks, you have the flexibility to either remain at Lincoln or visit family and friends. If you choose to return home, there is no need to move out – your belongings can stay safely in your room.
For those staying during the summer break, we offer a competitive weekly rate for students who cannot travel home. Additionally, students returning the following year can store their belongings at no cost, with each student allocated two storage shelf bays (55cm H x 91cm W x 76cm D). For security, all items should be securely packaged in sealed boxes or suitcases and clearly labelled. Please note that food and perishables cannot be stored for hygiene reasons.
If you plan to leave your bike, simply notify the administration team, and label it with your details.
Can I bring a TV or gaming console?
Students are welcome to bring their own personal television, DVD player or gaming console to their rooms for entertainment. For a more social experience, a large TV with Netflix and a DVD player is available in the Common Room, perfect for movie nights. You will find additional TVs with gaming consoles in the kitchenettes near KMB/Scott, the Hambly Building, and the Federation Common Room, offering plenty of spots to unwind, game or watch your favourite shows with friends!
Can I get mail and packages delivered to college?
Absolutely! Your mail can be delivered to Lincoln College. Just ensure your name and the College address (45 Brougham Place, North Adelaide, 5006) are clearly marked. Mail will be placed in the pigeonholes for easy pickup, and packages will be safely held at College Services. You will receive a notification when your parcel is ready for collection.
Security on campus
For your safety, all external access doors to every building are routinely locked, and your room is locked with your individual room key. During office hours, College Services are available to assist with any needs. Outside of office hours, a Residential Advisor (RA) is on duty and can be reached via the Duty Phone (number provided in your check-in pack). In case of urgent matters, the RA will contact the Dean of Students, Dean of Studies or Head of College, all of whom live onsite and are readily available to assist.
