You’ll enjoy three meals a day, seven days a week (plus supper five nights a week). These meals are balanced and nutritious with a selection of meats, salads and vegetarian/vegan options. At uni for lunch? Don’t worry, residents can make a sandwich to take along in the morning. Plus, if you won’t be around for dinner, either due to a late university lecture or tutorial, sports training or other curricular activities, just let the kitchen know. They’ll be happy to put a meal aside for you.

Outstanding Academic Support

Our comprehensive, in-house academic program, managed by The Dean and Senior Academic Tutor includes small group tutorials, individual consultations, drop-in sessions, seminars, cohort panel networking sessions and professional development activities. The Academic Team, made up of fellow residents, provides peer support, mentoring and intellectual leadership to assist with university studies.

Supporting your transition to life at uni

Starting university is a big and exciting step. To help ensure a smooth start to studying at university in Adelaide, a comprehensive introduction to tertiary study is provided for new residents every year. We focus on helping residents transition from high school to self-directed study and active learning. Regular sessions cover general tips as well as topic specific information including:

  • Developing effective self-study habits and skills
  • Preparing for lectures
  • Tutorials and labs
  • Essay writing and referencing at tertiary level
  • Time management and organisation skills
  • Exam preparation
  • Motivation

An academic “health check” is undertaken for all new residents early in the first term to ensure they have the skills, information and resources needed to excel in their studies.

Professional Development

In today’s competitive job market, securing your dream job is more than just about getting your degree. Lincoln’s range of leadership opportunities prepare you for the work force and enhance your resume. You’ll also get to network with Lincoln alumni around the world. Networking sessions and our mentoring program, Lincoln Links, provide an opportunity for residents to network with experienced professionals who have already succeeded in their chosen fields. The happiness and wellbeing of residents is central to life at Lincoln College. We want all students to feel safe, included and at home while living here and we offer a range of support services to deliver this, including live-in staff and residential advisors. In addition to opportunities to stay fit and healthy, we help residents develop and demonstrate practical skills of resilience, mental flexibility and a positive outlook, enhancing job prospects after completing university.

Live-in staff

At Lincoln, Executive Residential Staff members, including our Dean of Students, live on site to ensure support is available at any time and never too far away. Our Dean, Dr Jordan Bell, a trained Clinical Psychologist, has a PhD in resilience and expertise in adolescent and young adult mental health.

Safety and Security

Our Executive Residential Staff members, including our Dean of Students, live on site to ensure support is available at any time, with a Duty Advisor also on call after hours for emergencies and lock-outs. All buildings are secured with a master key system to ensure resident safety and security, and The University of Adelaide Security Staff patrol Lincoln College after hours. Lincoln takes a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, hazing, sexual harassment and sexual assault. We provide training and education to all residents and staff to ensure our residents are safe. The University of Adelaide’s Safer Campus Community provides a range of services to assist in maintaining student safety. Likewise, UniSA provides information about student safety at Respect. Now. Always. and information about Student Wellbeing. Flinders University have information about keeping students safe on campus.

Residential Advisors

At the core of our wellbeing focus are our Residential Advisors, who look after the corridor that they live on. Living among other residents provides the Residential Advisors on the ground knowledge of issues residents might be experiencing. They are trained in leadership, community building, mental and physical first aid, sexual assault prevention training, conflict resolution, equal opportunity and fire safety to ensure the safety and wellbeing of every student at Lincoln. The Indigenous Advisor also plays an important role in mentoring all students.


At Lincoln, there are some great social events that are always popular on the calendar and the best part is that most of them are free to participate in!

O’week, international night, music night, the Lincoln Ball and Valedictory Dinner are just some of the highlights.

As an active member of SAAUCC (The South Australian Association of University College Clubs) Lincoln competes in a variety of sports including swimming, hockey, soccer, football, table tennis, debating, basketball and much more.

We encourage you to get involved in a wide variety of sporting, cultural and social activities, regardless of your skill level. All skill levels are welcomed and we love having supporters on the side lines to cheer us on. There really is something for everyone at Lincoln College.

Indigenous Access

We’re committed to equity access to student accommodation for our Indigenous residents and provide a culturally safe and welcoming space, supported by an Indigenous access program.

Guided by our Indigenous Advisor, Lincoln student accommodation Adelaide delivers academic support, career development, scholarships and financial assistance.

Indigenous Advisor

The role of the Indigenous Advisor on the student leadership team is to provide support and help deliver programs for Indigenous students. Equipped with training in leadership, community building, mental and physical first aid and conflict resolution, the Indigenous Advisor is focused on the wellbeing of our Indigenous residents.

Indigenous scholarships and financial assistance

All student accommodation fees are paid for by Abstudy under the Residential Cost Option, for approved residents.

Lincoln also offers a living allowance to all Indigenous residents who are not receiving other forms of financial support, to be used for day-to-day study and living expenses.

Cultural Connection

Lincoln hosts guest speakers throughout the year to speak about Indigenous issues as well as foster strong relationships with the broader community. Lincoln has close links with the University Indigenous support programs, including The University of Adelaide’s Wirltu Yarlu and UniSA’s Wirringka.

Cultural Space

In 2016, the residents of Lincoln collaborated with Aboriginal artist Nish Cash (of Jingili and Mudburra heritage) from Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute to create an art project designed to promote inclusiveness and solidify the Indigenous presence at Lincoln. This stunning mural is now part of our BBQ area on the ground floor of Hambly Building.
