Lincoln College is committed to providing a safe environment for all members of our community.

As a residential community, the COVID-19 pandemic presents our college with unique challenges. Shared accommodation settings present higher risk of COVID-19 transmission due to close proximity, and complexities maintaining physical distance in communal facilities.

Lincoln College has an obligation to minimise the COVID-19 risk to our residents, staff and the broader community. We have a strong COVID-safe management plan in place, guided by the latest health advice, to ensure the safety, health and welfare of our residents and staff.

All staff and residents are required to adhere to physical distancing guidelines, we have ongoing safety and hygiene measures, provide ventilation of shared spaces, and continue to adapt our practices to ensure we adhere to the latest government advice.

We remain committed to continuing to provide a safe and welcoming experience for our students.

Vaccination requirements for new and returning students

Vaccination is a crucial part of the public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic is shaped by the latest advice from Australian health authorities.

Accordingly, in addition to the College’s COVID-safe management plan, all residents will be required to provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination status before arriving at College in 2022. All returning and new Lincoln College residents should have the full COVID-19 vaccination course as scheduled prior to arriving on campus, unless medically contraindicated. Likewise, all staff, Board members and contractors at Lincoln are required to have a full COVID-19 vaccination course, unless medically contraindicated.

We consider this position is not only in the interests of all residents and staff in our community, but also part of our responsibility to the broader community. If a resident seeks an exemption on medical grounds, they will be required to consult with the Principal prior to confirmation of their offer. We will continue to monitor authorities’ suggestions and recommendations in relation to booster vaccinations, and where these are offered, will be considered to constitute “the full COVID-19 vaccination course as scheduled”.
