5 tips to get the most out of University Open Day
Excited and a little nervous about the upcoming uni Open Day weekend in Adelaide? Let’s be honest, it can be overwhelming especially when you’re about to make a major decision in your life. Your Open Day experience will be one of the biggest factors in a your decision-making process, so we’ve put together some tips to ensure you make the most out of your uni Open Day.
Be super-organised – plan ahead!
Every uni has a dedicated Open Day website, planner or mobile app to help you plan your personal Open Day itinerary. You won’t be able to cram every single talk and info session into your itinerary, so prioritise sessions that align with your interest. If you can, why not come early to discover Adelaide, the city you’ll be calling your home for the next few years. Take advantage of the extra time to get a feel of accommodation options, cafes, shops, etc. You’ll also get the chance to uncover useful info such as how far the walk from your accommodation to your lectures.
Wear comfortable shoes
Be prepared to work up some sweat! You may have to walk (or run) a long way across the campus / city to attend different sessions, so wear sensible shoes!
Getting to Open Day
Getting to and around open day is easy with free shuttle buses that loop campuses on North Terrace and the Residential Colleges in North Adelaide. There’re also public transport options like the Glenelg tram, trains and many bus routes that stop on North Terrace, if you decide to leave the car behind.
Talk to people – ask questions
There’ll be lots of people available to answer your questions – so don’t be shy. There’s no such thing as a silly question. Talk to current students as they’ll be able to tell you what it’s really like studying at uni.
