🌟 Lincoln College at the 2024 NAAUC Conference! 🌟
From November 25 to 30, four of our student leaders had the incredible opportunity to participate in the National Association of University Colleges (NAAUC) Conference in Sydney! 🏙️✨

During the SWOTVAC and exam period, our Academic Team introduced Tasty Tuesdays and Teapot Thursdays to the Lincoln College Academic Program. 🍰☕
These events provided a well-deserved study break and created an opportunity for students to check in with our Dean of Studies, Dr. Donella Piper, and their Academic Tutor for last-minute advice and tips before exams. 📚
We invited students who had completed their exams to brush up on their cooking skills and bring along a plate, matching the theme of the day. 🍴
Our themes included:
"High Tea for a High D" where our Head of College, Carolyn Mee, served her delicious scones with jam and cream. 🫖
"Merry Christmas" where we enjoyed cherries, seasonal berries, and other traditional Christmas delights. 🎄
"Throwback Tuesday" where students brought their favourite childhood party treats. 🧁
We wish all our students the very best with their Semester 2 2024 results! We are incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication. 👏✨

✨ What makes Chikodi Anyanwu stand out this week? ✨
Chikodi stands out this week for her strong dedication to personal growth and leadership in First Nations health.
1. How do you think attending the CATSINam conference will benefit your career or personal growth? 🌟
Career-wise, I’ve always had the idea to give back to my Indigenous community or work as a nurse in other Indigenous communities. The conference will help me build connections that are essential in guiding me to where I need to go. It will benefit me to network with older Indigenous nurses so I can further build cultural competence to be able to give back, advocate, and provide support.
I am also extremely passionate about personal development. The conference will help me build confidence, understand resilience as an Indigenous nurse, develop my nursing leadership skills, learn new skills, and gain self-confidence.
2. What key topics or discussions are you most looking forward to hearing about at the 2024 CATSINam conference? 💬
I always get interested in hearing about people’s personal journeys and how they got to where they are today, as it might help guide my experience in the future. I have been enrolled in a student leadership workshop that will be beneficial to me currently and in the future as a graduate registered nurse. I’m excited to hear from the speakers who are renowned leaders in the field of ATSI health, including nurses and midwives, so they will have great advice.
Q3. What are some ways this conference might inspire future leaders in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health? 🩺
I think the stories from the speakers will help encourage potential leaders to follow their passions. A good leader in nursing is not only someone who is passionate about the profession but is passionate about supporting the people around them, helping them get to where they want to be, and ensuring they grow professionally, which is what the speakers at the conference would be most interested in.
This is our final post for Shoutout Thursday this year. We hope you have enjoyed hearing about our student experiences.

✨ What makes Sophie Boston stand out this week? ✨
Sophie stands out this week for her passion for college life and leadership involvement in Lincoln College Club and the National Association of Australian University of Colleges (‘NAAUC’)!
1. What inspired you to get involved with both the College Club and NAAUC? 💙
I absolutely loved my first year at college, and I wanted to be a part of the team that makes that happen for others!
Everyone knows I have an unhealthy obsession with college, so I decided to take that and join a team of people who feel the same way! Being able to help and understand colleges all around Australia has been eye-opening and such a special opportunity. I’m really looking forward to our National Conference in Sydney this November, where student leaders from colleges all over Australia come to learn about how they can make their college even better!
2. What has been the most rewarding aspect of your involvement on Club? 💫
Honestly, every aspect of Club is rewarding. Sitting back at events and seeing how much fun everyone is having makes you remember why we work so hard to make it happen.
3. What drew you to pursue a postgraduate degree? 📚
After finishing my undergrad, I knew I wanted to study something else to “upscale” my knowledge (and employability). In my 3rd year, I took an elective on performance analysis and player monitoring, and really enjoyed it! I felt it was something I could be good at. Then I found the perfect postgrad course, which I’ve absolutely loved. Postgraduate study is the perfect way to try or just learn something new!
4. How has it been living at College now for four years? 🏡
I’ve seen so many people come through, and it’s just amazing how even though people come and go, the same college culture has stayed and continues to grow each year. I’ve made so many friends from all across the country, and it reminds me why a college community is such a special place.
The college lifestyle is like no other and is something you will never experience again, so I’ve always said, why not stay and enjoy it while you can?
